Inaugural Midland Masonic Golf Championship

A couple of years ago Worcestershire were contacted by a Freemason Golf Professional, from Vale Royal Abbey GC, Northwich. His intention was to create a National Masonic Golf Championship. Recognising this would be a fantastic thing to have but also cognisant of the magnitude of the task, The Committee of the Worcestershire Masonic Golf Society, took the initiative to establish a Midlands Masonic Golf Championship. Hoping that this could be mirrored around the country, culminating in a National Competition derived from the several Regional Competitions. Thus simplifying the task.

Fired up with this, contact was made to the following Provinces; Derbyshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, Northants & Huntingdonshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire. Including ourselves making this a 10 Province Championship. The response has been extremely positive and the event is going to happen on Tuesday 26 July at Bromsgrove Golf Centre.

It will be 10 teams of 4 competing for the Trophy. That in itself is worthy of a mention as it was generously donated by W.Bro. Paul Battle. Also delighted to inform everyone that it will be known as the Midlands Masonic Golf Championship (MMGC), "Midland Masonic Golf Battle Jug". Unanimously agreed by all 10 Provinces.

This is going to be a fabulous day of golf and so exciting, as the inaugural event within the Province of Worcestershire. This will become an annual event and the host will move to the other Provinces in alphabetical order.
