FREEMASONRY IN THE COMMUNITY
WHAT WE DO

Support for the less fortunate in society has been a feature of Masonic activity throughout the history of Freemasonry in Worcestershire. In 1773, Freemasons donated 5 Guineas towards the building of the Worcester Infirmary. In the nineteenth century Worcestershire Freemasons were active in relieving the adverse effects of industrialisation: grants were regularly made to causes such as Lying-in charities and the Dudley Truss Society which, respectively, helped women who could not afford medical care during childbirth, and men who developed hernias because of the heavy lifting involved in the industries of the Black Country.

With the expansion of Freemasonry in the 20th century Worcestershire Freemasons were able to provide more help to a wider cross-section of deserving causes, some of whom are shown here.

In the 21st century, The Worcestershire Freemasons Charity, funded entirely by the Freemasons of Worcestershire , continues to support local communities by encouraging opportunity, promoting independence and improving wellbeing.
