Patrick Firminger - Immediate Past Third Provincial Grand

Patrick Vandeleur Firminger BSc (Hons) MRICS – Born 64 years ago on 20th August 1960

Patrick is born and bred in Bromsgrove. He ventured into the world attending what is now Nottingham Trent University.  Achieving an honours degree in quantity surveying and worked in London for 3 years, before joining the family firm in 1986 soon qualifying as a chartered surveyor.

He married Jan in 1988 and now lives in Dodford, near Bromsgrove.  Jan was a female medical nurse and ward sister but retired when the children came along.  Their two adult children have now fled the nest, with Jack (29) qualifying as a chartered surveyor in Birmingham, and Sarah (26) a Senior Digital Marketing Executive in London.  Not forgetting their wonderful loving dog, who is a Hungarian Vizsla with more energy than you care to imagine.

As we know, once you start freemasonry in earnest, other interests and hobbies absorb less and less time. That’s not to say they aren’t still there keen to get out.  When time allows, Patrick enjoys skiing, walking, sailing, modelling (kit type and not fashion), watercolour painting and spending time at their holiday home in Borth in Wales. He also enjoys DIY and cooking but is really messy.

Freemasonry takes up so much time and he loves every minute of it.  His mother chapter is Page 3378, and he had the privilege of being a founder member of Old Bromsgrovian Chapter 5743.  A member of Worcestershire Installed First Principals Chapter 6889 and Peace and Harmony Chapter 3929 (Warwickshire).  Initiated into Old Bromsgrovian Lodge 5743 as a double initiation with his brother Chris in 1997, becoming Master in 2006.  A member of Custos Lodge 9320, Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge 9142, Worcestershire Installed Masters Lodge 6889 and founding Master of Aedificandum Lodge 9937. Also a member of Rose Croix, Knights Templar, Red Cross of Constantine, Mark and RAM. Busy, busy.

After passing through the chair, he was appointed Provincial Grand Steward.  Then in 2012, he had the privilege of being invested as Provincial Senior Grand Warden alongside his brother Chris, whom we sadly lost in February 2021. Patrick spent 5 years on the Warden’s circuit before becoming Worcestershire’s 2022 Festival Chairman, and despite the pandemic achieved a very challenging target. He was appointed Assistant Provincial Grand Master for a six-year period.   Having finished in office he was awarded the RW PGM’s Certificate of Merit in June 2023.  In Craft he was appointed as Past Senior Grand Deacon.  In Royal Arch he had the privilege of being appointed as Third Provincial Grand Principal for Worcestershire in 2024, being appointed to Grand Rank as Past Grand Standard Bearer later that year.  He is a Trustee of the Worcestershire Freemasons Charity.
