Worcestershire Freemasons Celebrate a Successful Annual Meeting
More than 225 Brethren gathered on Saturday 20th June 2026 for the Annual Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge of Worcestershire, in what proved to be a memorable and uplifting occasion celebrating achievement, service and the continued strength of Freemasonry across the Province.
The meeting attracted tremendous support not only from Worcestershire Freemasons but also from across the wider Masonic family. Representatives from numerous Provinces travelled to attend, including eight Provincial Grand Masters, together with Deputy and Assistant Provincial Grand Masters and senior representatives from around the country. The Province was also delighted to welcome senior rulers and representatives from several companion Orders, demonstrating the strong bonds that exist across Freemasonry and the high regard in which Worcestershire Province continues to be held.
Presiding over the meeting, the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Stephen John Wyer, reflected on another successful year for the Province. He highlighted the continuing growth and engagement being seen across both Craft and Royal Arch Masonry and praised the commitment of members throughout Worcestershire. His message reinforced the Province's vision of "One Journey, One Organisation" – ensuring that Craft and Royal Arch continue to work hand in hand for the benefit of Freemasonry as a whole.
One of the most significant moments of the day was the appointment and installation of Worshipful Brother Timothy M. L. Jones, PAGReg, as Assistant Provincial Grand Master. Tim is already well known throughout Worcestershire as Deputy Grand Superintendent in the Holy Royal Arch and his appointment further strengthens the Province's commitment to closer alignment between Craft and Royal Arch Masonry. The Provincial Grand Master warmly welcomed Tim to his new role and expressed his confidence that his enthusiasm, experience and leadership would help drive the Province forward in the years ahead.
The meeting also marked the conclusion of a highly successful term of office for Reverend Father Justin T. Parker as Assistant Provincial Grand Master. The Provincial Grand Master paid tribute to Justin's outstanding service, dedication and commitment over the past three years, thanking him for the significant contribution he has made to Worcestershire Freemasonry. Justin now moves on to an exciting new chapter as Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Degree, and the Province wishes him every success in this important appointment.
Another highlight of the day was the installation of the Province's new Wardens. Worshipful Brother Brody Swain was invested as Senior Grand Warden and Worshipful Brother James Benson as Junior Grand Warden. Both Brethren begin their year in office with the support and best wishes of the Province.
The Provincial Grand Master also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing Wardens, Worshipful Brother Tony Parkes and Worshipful Brother Ben Maffei, for their dedication, hard work and exemplary service throughout the past year. Their commitment and support have played an important part in another successful year for the Province.
As is traditional, the meeting saw the appointment and reappointment of Provincial Grand Officers. The Provincial Grand Master thanked all those receiving office, recognising not only what they have already contributed to Worcestershire Freemasonry but also the important role they will play in the future. Particular recognition was also given to the many non-collared officers whose efforts often take place behind the scenes but are essential in keeping the Province running smoothly. From communications and social media to ceremonial support, administration and publications, these dedicated volunteers continue to be the engine room of the Province.
Congratulations were also extended to the many Brethren receiving their first promotions to Past Rank and to those honoured with promotions in United Grand Lodge of England Grand Rank. Special mention was made of the Province's Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Very Worshipful Brother Michael J. Dykes, who received the prestigious appointment of Acting Grand Sword Bearer at United Grand Lodge of England — a significant honour and a reflection of the esteem in which he is held both within Worcestershire and beyond.
Throughout the day, the business of Provincial Grand Lodge was conducted with the precision and professionalism that has become synonymous with Worcestershire. Much credit must go to Alan Bolton, Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, whose meticulous planning ensured the meeting ran seamlessly from start to finish.
The proceedings concluded with a superb Festive Board, providing an opportunity for members and guests to renew friendships, celebrate the day's achievements and enjoy the fellowship that lies at the heart of Freemasonry. The atmosphere throughout was one of optimism, pride and unity.
With strong attendance, widespread support from across the Masonic world, and a clear vision for the future, the 2026 Annual Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge demonstrated that Worcestershire Freemasonry continues to go from strength to strength.
Photographs from the day will be published shortly. If the smiles, handshakes and camaraderie witnessed throughout the meeting are anything to go by, they will capture a truly splendid day for Worcestershire Freemasonry.
