Paul Taylor, 50 years of Freemasonry
Fifty years of Freemasonry is an achievement worth celebrating - and it was certainly an evening of celebration on 21st October at Evesham’s Elmley Castle Lodge no. 6247, when Paul Taylor received his 50-year certificate from the Head of Freeemasonry in Worcestershire, Stephen J Wyer.
The celebration began with Lodge Secretary, Ian Southcott, offering an amusing insight into Paul’s family and professional life. Stephen then interviewed Paul, offering an insight for the 50 or so members and visitors present, into Paul’s Masonic. Paul, an accountant by profession, joined Freemasonry in 1976 at Tudor Lodge in London and members from there were present to enjoy the occasion. He joined Elmley Castle Lodge when work and married life brought him to Worcestershire in 1997. Paul’s Masonic progression has led him to become the Provincial Grand Treasurer of Worcestershire Freemasonry. Two years ago, Paul’s son, Jamie, joined Elmley Castle Lodge and was there to share in his father’s enjoyment.
Before the Lodge closed, the Master, Malcolm Banks, invited Paul to take the Chair and close the Lodge which he was clearly delighted to do. He continued in the Chair during supper afterwards, also.
During supper afterwards Paul received a decanter and glasses, a bottle of Cotswold malt whisky and picture frame containing a congratulatory card, the summons and two pictures taken and printed during the evening - and a magnificent cake that was shared amongst those present.
This was an outstanding evening which will be long remembered - not just by Paul of course, but all who were there to witness this special occasion.
