Permanent Way Lodge has received a Silver Award certificate from Lifelites, the Masonic charity founded by musician W.Bro. Rick Wakeman, for its donation of £4,000 to Lifelites.
The charity provides technology to help children and young people with life-limiting conditions. This followed the remarkable meeting of the Lodge at the Grecian Templenin the former Great Eastern Hotel (now the Andaz), at London’s Liverpool Street station, last December. £4,000 was also donated to each of Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and Railway Children.
The money was raised by a combination of alms, a bucket collection next to a Great Eastern Railway steam locomotive, a gala dinner, an online Grand Draw and a railwayana auction.
The event was masterminded by the then WM, W.Bro. Andrew Goodman whose company, Railway Support Services, sponsored the event.
