Saturday evening, 25 April, saw the ‘Cheltenham Fryer’ depart Toddington on the @Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway with a full complement of Masons and their families, to enjoy an evening of fish and chips, music, nostalgia and fundraising as the day gradually turned into night. With a long stop at Winchcombe to collect the evening’s cuisine and enjoy the music of ‘Breeze’ on the platform, the train then continued to Cheltenham and returned to Toddington. A draw was conducted during the journey and drawn on the platform after arrival at Toddington, with some wonderful prizes.
The event was organised by the Charity Steward of Elmley Castle Lodge No. 6247, Andrew Goodman, and sponsored by his company, Railway Support Services Ltd. The result was a wonderful £3,500 - £1,000 going to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway Trust, the railway’s registered charity, and £2,500 to the Worcestershire Masonic Charity.
