Triple Patching by Worcestershire Widows Sons

It was a night to remember at Northfield Freemasons Hall as the Worcestershire Widows Sons welcomed three Brethren into the Chapter in true Widows Sons style.

Brother Brian Smith was patched in by our President, Philip ‘Toon’ Abram, on the very evening he completed his Third Degree with the Lodge of Progress No. 9893, marking a double milestone on his Masonic journey. He was joined by Brother Pat Weeks, already a Master Mason, and by a very special candidate – our Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Stephen John Wyer.

Known to us on the road as “Moonraker”, Stephen was also made an Honorary Member of the Worcestershire Widows Sons and presented with his leather cut, together with a certificate recording our sincere thanks and recognition for his continued support and guidance to both the Chapter and the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association as a whole. His visible encouragement of the Widows Sons ethos and mission speaks volumes and is deeply appreciated by the Brethren.

The evening also served as a reminder of the strong and enduring bond between the Widows Sons and the Lodge of Progress – Worcestershire’s motorcycling lodge. That relationship continues to thrive, with many candidates finding their way into Freemasonry through the Widows Sons route. The Lodge is in robust health, and just in the first two meetings this year expects to initiate a further three candidates, a testament to the positive influence of Freemasonry lived and practiced on and off the road.

Brotherhood, the Craft, and the open road – nights like this show exactly what Widows Sons Freemasonry is all about. 🏍️🧱
