On 20th January, Freemasons’ Hall, Kidderminster was filled to capacity as Chaddesley Corbett Lodge No. 8942 celebrated a very special occasion — the presentation of a 50-Year Long Service Certificate to WBro Charles Baden Dodge.
The presentation was delivered by the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, WBro Rev Justin T. Parker, supported by WBro Paul W. Emmerson, in the presence of over 60 Brethren, wives, partners, and distinguished guests, including Grand Lodge Officers and senior members from several Orders. Charles was proudly accompanied by his wife Eryl, son Anthony, and daughter-in-law Lin.
Initiated in 1976, Charles has enjoyed a long and distinguished Masonic career across the Craft and many other Orders. He was instrumental in the founding of several Lodges and remains a much-valued Senior Past Master, Mentor, and Almoner of Chaddesley Corbett Lodge, having served as Worshipful Master on two occasions, 30 years apart.
A well-known and much-loved figure across the Province, Charles’ warmth, commitment, and trademark ability to “find a volunteer” — affectionately known as the “Hand of Dodge” — were fondly acknowledged throughout an evening that was both celebratory and deeply moving.
At the festive board, heartfelt toasts and presentations were made, with the Worshipful Master, WBro Ian Kearns, expressing the sincere affection and gratitude of the Brethren for Charles’ outstanding service and enduring contribution to Freemasonry.
